    Introductions:

L-Carnitine is an amino acid which has a role to play in the body's fat metabolism process. L-Carnitine transports fatty acids to the mitochondria, which is where they are essentially burned as fuel. This amino acid naturally occurs, although it can also be biosynthesized from two other ones. In addition to being found in a wide range of foods, it is also commonly available as a dietary supplement.

L-Carnitine is a nutrient that is derived from the amino acids lysine and methionine. Its name is derived from the fact that it was first isolated from meat (carnus). L-Carnitine is not considered a dietary essential because it is synthesized in the body. The body produces carnitine in the liver and kidneys and stores it in the skeletal muscles, heart, brain, and other tissues. But its production may not meet the needs under certain conditions such as increased energy demands and therefore it is considered a onditionally essential nutriention. There are two forms (isomers) of carnitine, viz. L-carnitine and D-carnitine, and only the L-isomer is biologically active.

    Functions:

    • Maintain cellular metabolic activity by assisting in the intracellular transport of fatty acids from the cell fluid into the mitochondria where fats are oxidized to generate cellular energy.
    • Prevent excess accumulation of cellular debris.
    • Support a healthy concentration of nitric oxide, which helps endothelial cells relax and maintain blood flow—supporting proper blood pressure.
    • Maintain healthy body fat composition, which in turn supports insulin sensitivity and healthy blood sugar levels already within normal range.

    Applications:

    1)  Infant food: It can be added to milk powder to improve the nutrition.

    2) Weight loss: L-carnitine can burn the redundant adipose in our body, then transmit to energy, which can help us slimming figure.

    3) Athletes food: It is good for improve the explosive force and resist fatigue, which can enhance our sports ability.
    4) Important nutritional supplement for human body: With the growth of our age, the content of L-carnitine in our body is decreasing, so we should supplement L-carnitine to maintain the health of our body.
    5) L-Carnitine is proved to be safe and healthy food after security experiments in many countries.  US stipulates that ADI is 20mg per kg per day, the maximum for adults is 1200mg per day.

L-carnitine (L-carnitine), also known as L-carnitine or transliterated carnitine, is an amino acid that promotes the conversion of fat into energy. Red meat is the main source of L-carnitine and has no toxic side effects to the human body. Different types of daily diets already contain 5-100 mg of L-carnitine, but the average person can only consume 50 mg from the diet a day, and vegetarians consume less. The main physiological function of L-carnitine is to promote the conversion of fat into energy. Taking L-carnitine can reduce body fat and weight without reducing water and muscle.

    (1) Promote fatigue recovery Supplementing L-carnitine can promote the activity of pyruvate dehydrogenase in cells, thereby promoting the oxidative utilization of glucose, which is beneficial to delay the occurrence of fatigue during exercise. Excessive production of lactic acid during exercise will increase the acidity of blood and tissue fluid, reduce the production of ATP, and cause fatigue. Supplementing L-carnitine can remove excessive lactic acid, improve exercise capacity, and promote recovery from exercise fatigue. Appropriate supplementation of L-carnitine also has a significant effect on chronic fatigue syndrome. L-carnitine participates in many metabolic links. It plays an important role in improving the body's immunity, protecting the stability of cell membranes, improving exercise endurance and anti-fatigue. Actively correcting the lack of L-carnitine can promote the recovery of various metabolic disorders in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome, enhance the body's energy synthesis, increase the maximum exercise endurance level, and play an anti-fatigue effect. It can also play a certain role in the prevention and treatment of sub-health.

    (2) Delay the aging process Energy is the greatest anti-aging force, and cells will be full of vitality if they have enough energy. The weakening of cell energy in the human body's aging process is one of the reasons for its acceleration of aging. Appropriate supplementation of L-carnitine can delay the aging process. In addition, enough energy plays a protective role for cells. When the body is aging, the cell energy supply is insufficient. Supplementing L-carnitine can not only provide enough energy, but also keep the immune system strong, thereby avoiding the invasion of some diseases.

    (3) Conducive to the health of babies L-carnitine is an essential nutrient for conditioned infants and plays an important role in the metabolism of infants using fat as an energy source. Baby L-carnitine synthesis ability is weak, only 12% of adults, especially premature infants, must be supplemented with exogenous L-carnitine in order to meet the needs of the body.

    Description

Carnitine is an amino acid derivative and nutrient involved in lipid (fat) metabolism in mammals and other eukaryotes. It is in the chemical compound classes of β-hydroxyacids and quaternary ammonium compounds, and because of the hydroxyl-substituent, it exists in two stereoisomers, the biologically active enantiomer L-carnitine, and the essentially biologically inactive D-carnitine.[bettersourceneeded] Both are available through chemical synthesis,[not verified in body] and the L-form is continuously biosynthesized in eukaryotic organisms from the proteinogenic amino acids lysine and methionine. In such eukaryotic cells, it is specifically required for the transport of fatty acids from the intermembraneous space in the mitochondria into the mitochondrial matrix during the catabolism of lipids, in the generation of metabolic energy.[bettersourceneeded] Carnitine was originally found as a growth factor for mealworms and labeled vitamin BT, although carnitine is not by biochemical definition a true vitamin. It is used efficaciously, clinically, in the treatment of some conditions, e.g. systemic primary carnitine deficiency, and it is available over the counter as a nutritional supplement, though its efficacy for most conditions for which it is advertised is controversial or not yet established.
